The company was founded in 1902 and registered with an expected a duration of 25 years; on 8 February 1919, the General Assembly increased the company duration for 33 years, up to 31 December 1960. On 12 August 1922, the General Assembly pronounced the voluntary liquidation of the company; on 22 September 1922, the Commerce Court of the Seine declared the company bankrupt (sources).
On 19 February 1924, Compagnie des Affrêteurs Français was founded by Compagnie des Chargeurs Français (Plisson & Cie) to operate 19 out of the 27 ships of the Affrêteurs Réunis fleet.

E.C. (1912), also available online thanks to the Mystic Seaport Foundation, shows the house flag of Société Les Affrêteurs Réunis (# 1102, steamships section) with a green field.

The company was still operating in 1937 according to Lloyds Telegraphic addresses though they do not indicate in what capacity. According to Lloyds the flag was also used by E. Anquetil.

According to a company share, the house flag of Compagnie des Affrêteurs Français is green with three stars in canton and the white letters CAF.
The company had connections with Chastellain, an other shipowner from Rouen, in 1957.
