The main responsibility of the British Arctic Territory Guard/United Air and Naval Organization (BATGUANO) in recent years has been protecting the growing tourist and cruise industry developing in their Arctic waters; duties similar to Office of the Russian Arctic Territory Service (ORATS) who in the past were responsible for saving countless vacationing Russian and British tourists who were shipwrecked along the coast of the Russian Arctic Territory in the last century. With the renewed interest in such elusive attractions as the endangered Arctic Aardvark, countless vacationing Russian, British (and more recently Japanese and Chinese) tourists have been drawn to the waters ill prepared for the more unpredictable coast of the British Arctic Territory where the aardvark habitat exists.
