The municipality of Tanagra (19,432 inhabitants in 2001; 45,790 ha) was formed in the 2011 local government reform as the merger of the former municipalities of Dervenochoria (Δερβενοχώρια, 2,191 inh.), Oinofyta (Οινόφυτα, 8,195 inh.), Schimatari (Σχηματάρι, 8,095 inh.) and Tanagra (3,827 inh.).
