Presentation of Donji Kukuruzari

The municipality of Donji Kukuruzari (2,047 inhabitants in 2001) is located some 30 km south of Sisak. The municipality is made of 15 villages. The largest of them is not the village of Donji Kukuruzari (226 inh., municipal seat) but the village of Donja Velešnja (358 inh.). About 20% of the population are Serbs.
The village of Umetić (124 inh.) is the birth place of Feldmarshal Svetozar Borojević von Bojna (1856-1920), the highest ranking Croat in the Austrian-Hungarian military, who was leading the Austrian-Hungarian forces in the First World War on the Italian front.

The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the middle.

The coat of arms of Donji Kukuruzari (poster Likovna rješenja službenih grbova odobrena od Ministarstva uprave a na temelju pozitivne ocjene od Povjerenstva za odobrenje grba i zastave, Heraldic Art, Rijeka, 2006) is "Gules a braided basket or and in chief two maize ears also or". The maize (Croatian, kukuruz) cobs make the arms canting canting.
