Mrs. Anat Mor, Regional Council spokeswoman sent me the emblem and wrote to me 30 October 2001 as follows:

  1. Regional Council HaGilboa has no official flag authorised by the authority's council and published according to the Emblems Protection Act [correct about the flag, but the emblem is official].
  2. Therefore, the Regional Council tends to use the council emblem by printing it [actually in black] in the centre of fabric [actually blue one] in case of need.

The council now have pop. of 22,000 (2003) in 33 settlements with two more in planing.. The area is known from the bible. The Judges Gideon and Deborah fought here and King Shaul and his son Yehonatan were killed here.
The first settlement founded in 1921 as tent camp at Ma'ayan Harod (Harod Spring) later to become Kibbutz Ein Harod, followed two monthes later by Kibbutz Tel Yosef.
Most of Mount Gilboa itself is a nature reserve.
