The city emblem was adopted on Nov 1st 2005 by Announcement No 1 but there is no flag law. The blue flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized kanji 高 Taka of Takaoka. It depicts an image of water , green and the vivid people and an image of the city with bright nature and people. It represents a vigor and a surge of the city.
