Flag

Located in Fuchu City Tokyo and established in 1949. The university flag has light purple background with a white emblem in the center and horizontally written white kanji university name. The university emblem, with the kanji word "大學" on a zelkova leaf, was officially approved and adopted in October 1956. The zelkova evokes an image of freedom that "flutters in the wind that blows through its cool shade," suggesting a future that "stretches mightily and shines in the firmament." It is also said to have meanings such as, "It serves as a windbreak and is useful to the world." This university emblem will continue to be used as a traditional symbol on the flag, diplomas, and official documents.
