The road from Amsterdam to Berlin passes through Delden - Delden consisted
of "Stad Delden" (city of Delden), and "Ambt Delden", the surrounding countryside,
which became separate municipalities in 1816.
In 2001 both municipalities became part of the new municipality of
"Hof van Twente" - the garden of Twente. Heart of this municipality is
the Twickel Estate, according to online brochures quite worthwhile to visit
when journeying from A to B.
Stad Delden - On 1 Jul 1818 the municipality of Stad Delden was formed
and on 24 Nov the arms were granted: blue with a lindentree on a terrace,
all gold.
The lindentree seems to be connected to Mr. Wessel van Delden, who
ceded his manor "bij de Linde" to the aldermen of Delden in 1378.
However a lindentree was already used on the cityseal of Delden in 1322.
It was used as well on an unofficial flag, in which the tree differed a
bit from the tree on the arms. The terrace looks different too.
Flag #1: two equally wide horizontal stripes of yellow and blue,
in the square blue canton a lindentree on a terrace, both yellow.
The municipal council thought that the flag must have been approved
in a resolution. However the Stichting Banistiek en Heraldiek found that
it looked a lot like several other Dutch municipality-flags. So the city
mayor and aldermen asked that foundation for some designs. On 26 Apr 1976
the municipal council decided to approve a design: a yellow over blue hoist,
with on yellow a stylized blue city-crown, and on blue a yellow stylized
planted lindentree, and a fly of blue over yellow.

Stad Delden Schutterij flag
by Jarig Bakker, 24 Nov 2003
While browsing the internet I found another flag in use by the "Deldense
Schutterij" (shooting club) - their target is a metal bird on a metal
board, with two flags on top (green-white hor.), and the club uses quite
a few flags for flag-throwing, all apparently the Stad Delden arms on a
square white bedsheet
