Number of inhabitants (1 Jan 2003): 8.408; area: 27,32 km². Settlements: Loenen aan de Vecht (seat), Loenersloot, Nieuwersluis, Nigtevecht, Vreeland.
1 april 1964 werden de gemeenten Loenen, Loenersloot en Vreeland
On 1 Apr Loenen municipality was formed by the merger of Loenen, Loenersloot, and Vreeland. In 1989 Nigteveght was joined to Loenen.
The flag consists of the municipal logo on a white field.
