Ameide is a small town with 3085 inhabitants, situated on the river Lek.
The beautiful townhall on the Dam goes back to 1644 and shows that Ameide
was a prosperous little town. Nowadays couples can still get married in
the townhall amongst beautiful Patrician homes and shops. Ameide is the
only village in Zederik that in 1277 received its townrights.
Unfortunately, Ameide lost them again in 1527 during the wars between
the Dutch families Van Arkel and Brederode.
