Delfshaven was 1389-1795 the harbour of Delft. In 1825 it became a separate
municipality, until it was incorporated in Rotterdam in 1886. It is the
birthplace of Piet Hein, who can still be admired as a statue. The late-Gothic
church is famous, because here the Pilgrim Fathers held their last service
before their departure for the New World (1620).
