KBS or ‘Kruijff Bunker Service BV’ is a Dutch bunkering and mineral oil
trading company at Den Helder, the port situated at the northern tip of
North Holland.
As we learn from this Gulf
in-house journal (‘Orange Disc, Spring 2002, issue 1, p. 11):
KBS – founded in 1871 - and another family-owned firm, Miedema
Holding, worked together to re-introduce the Gulf petrol brand in the Netherlands,
in 2003. (This temporary absence was caused by Q8 buying up the pumps in
1984 but leaving the brand aside.) KBS’s part consists in supplying
the agricultural sector and fisheries alongside its bunkering business.
Now streamlined as Gulf Oil Nederland and operating a tanker fleet,
KBS used to fly a house flag of its own. See it on this Binnenvaart
page, dedicated to tanker ‘Peter Kruijff’, as a drawing: Orange field
with large white initials ‘KBS’. A photo of the flag may be
seen on this
Binnenvaart page dedicated to tanker ‘Addy’:
click camera logo next to “1991 Andre Kruijff” at end of page.
Another one is found when looking
up tanker ‘Gulf Fast Trac’: click camera logo next to “1991 Robert
Kruijff” at end of page, throwing a pennant into the bargain, if I am not
mistaken!
I suppose this flag and pennant are no longer flown.
