Blazon: På gull grunn to svarte vogner, 1-1. In English: Or two black wagons in pale.
Approved by the royal resolution of 24 April 1992, after a design by Daniel Rike. (http://www.e-h.kommune.no/fakta-om-evje-og-hornnes-kommune.4724716-151821.html)
The local description of the design talk about "gruevogner" instead of the general "vogner" used in the official blazon, thus specifying "mine carts" being depicted. The mining was of utmost importance in the region, one of the largest nickel mines being in the municipality. The two carts represents the two previous municipalities of Evje and Hornnes that were joined into a single one in 1960.
