Chojnów - rural commune, Legnica County, Dolnośląskie Voivodship - former German name: Haynau.
Commune's "Statut" of 2003 says: "The Arms of the Commune are on an "Old French"-style shield, divided vertically, where the first part of the shield contains the old Coat of Arms of Bozywoj clan on gold field.
Lower half of the shield is a chessboard-like field of red and silver squares - alternating, in three vertical stripes and four horizontal rows.
The second part of the shield is blue with the bottom section showing two fish in the water, which is a recollection of the old symbol of Patnów and also of the traditional and present industries of the Commune.
Above it is a silhouette of a black Dutch windmill with the arms extending into the blue field.

The flag of the Chojnów Commune reflects the main colors of the Arms which are arranged vertically -red, gold and blue.
The sequence of the colors should be as follows:
Red at the hoist, Gold in the middle and Blue at the fly.
Red and Blue have the ratio 1:3 in the relation to Gold, which means the Gold part is three times wider than both, Red and Blue."

Here comes the major problem.
The description given in the "Statut" contradicts the proof (wzór) provided there as the Addendum (Zalacznik) # 2. The picture shows the flag in blue-gold-red
Additionally, the Wikipedia shows an even more confusing image of this flag.
There, it is arranged horizontally, in three equal bands of red-gold-blue.
My inquiry for clarification at the Commune Council remains unanswered.
