Grudziądz is a city in Grudziądz county, but administratively not part of
it: it is a separate county, c.50 km NE of Torun; German name: Graudenz,
with (1981) 91.081 inhabitants. It was founded by Teutonic Knights in 1291;
to Poland 1466; seized by Prussia 1772; and in 1920 again assigned to Poland;
held by Germany in WWII. Flag adopted: 1990.
