Byczyna - urban-rural commune, Kluczbork County, Opolskie Voivodship -
German name: Pitschen.
The town, located just north of Kluczbork in Upper Silesia, was the
setting of the Battle of Byczyna between Maximilian III, Archduke of Austria,
who was elected as king of Poland, and Sigismund of Lithuania, on January
24, 1588.(Sigismund won).
Site of the annual "Old Boys" soccer (football) championships.
Arms and flag adopted on September 30, 2002.
Arms: fragment of the town's defensive wall (red) on silver (white)
shield.
Flag's upper color is very unusual (not described) - kind of bluish
gray.
