Przechlewo -rural commune, Człuchów County, Pomorskie Voivodship - Kashubian
name: Przechlewë; former German name: Prechlau.
Gmina Przechlewo is a rural commune in Człuchów County, Pomeranian
Voivodship, in northern Poland. Its seat is the village of Przechlewo,
which lies approximately 19 kilometres (12 mi) north-west of Człuchów and
110 km (68 mi) south-west of the regional capital Gdańsk.
Area: 243.88 sq.km (94.2 sq.mi); Population: 6,158 (2006); Land under
cultivation - 35%; forests - 52%.
History of the commune goes back to 12th century. Located amongst clean
lakes, rivers and forests, the commune has great tourist potential.
Site of heavy fighting in February 1945.
Earlier this year the commune's council opened the competition for the
symbols of the commune.
On June 2,2009 the winning design was chosen out of the three final
proposals.
It features, on the blue field, a golden fish under a golden sun, and
above two white stripes representing the waters.
It has to await the approval of the Heraldic Commission in Warsaw.
