Ostrów Wielkopolski is in Ostrów Wielkopolski county, c. 100 km southeast
of Poznan with (1981) 63.983 inhabitants. It was mentioned in the 13th
century and became a town in the 18th century. To Prussia 1793 and to Poland
after World War I. German name: Deutsch Ostrau. Flag adopted 1994.
