The arms are Sable three maize ears Or tied Or and on a bordure Vert eight scallops Or. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE MIRA". The flag shows arms with bordure, just like the Portuguese national arms. Though this is correct Heraldry and shows an obvious influence, there are not too many such subnational arms in Portugal.
António Martins-Tuválkin, 7 Jul 2007

Flag and coat of arms adopted and published in the official journal Diário do Governo : I Série in 1934.01.16.
