Club Centenario was founded on 18 April 1937 in Asunción and approved on 11 January 1939 by Decree No. 11,233. During the founding assembly organized in José María Angulo's house, the club was named "Centenario" since the fourth centenary of the establishment of Asunción was celebrated that year.

The emblems and distinctive marks are prescribed in Articles 3 and 4 of the club's Statutes:

a) The flag, made of two horizontal stripes equal in size, "chrome yellow" at the top and "ultramarine blue" at the bottom, with the club's coat of arms in the middle. b) The coat of arms, made of a shield surmounted with a feathered helmet of an old armour and placed above a semicircular, chrome yellow scroll inscribed with "Club Centenario" in black letters. The shield is diagonally divided into two equal parts, chrome yellow at the top and ultramarine blue at the bottom. In the middle of the shield are placed the club's initials, represented as two interlaced letters "C" of equal size, countercoloured. c) Two interlaced letters "C" of equal size.
