About the flag

Sosnogosk has the status of a municipal district and as such is divided into three municipalities, of which two use flags. The municipality of the same name uses the same flag as the entire territory of the municipal district which is divided by a white pall, red against the hoist, green above and blue below, overall a yellow capercailzie clutching twigs.

From http://sosnogorsk.org/about/symbolism/:

White lines on the image of the flag separate the blue, green and red fields and indicate that the city is located at the confluence of two rivers: Izhma and Ukhta. Located in the center, a golden image of a current wood grouse sitting on a pine branch, the largest, strongest and most viable bird of the Komi forests, marks the peculiarity of the fauna of the municipality (capercaillie), and the predominant position in the coniferous forests of pine - the tree that gave the name to the city. The central position of the capercaillie on the emblem of the coat of arms and the image of the flag indicates the location of Sosnogorsk in the geographical center of the Komi Republic. Gold symbolizes wealth, justice, respect, generosity. Silver is a symbol of perfection, nobility, purity, faith, peace. The blue part of the emblem (azure) allegorically shows the gas processing plant, as well as the beauty of nature, perfection, lofty aspirations, virtue. Red is a symbol of the sun and warmth, beauty, joy and celebration. Green complements the symbolism of the city's nature, and this color also symbolizes life, prosperity, stability
