Tribunal de Ética Gubernamental (TEG - Court of Government Ethics) was established by Article 10 of the Law on Government Ethics, issued on 27 April 2006 by Legislative Decree No. 1,038, published on 18 May 2006 in the El Salvador official gazette, No. 90. The amended Law on Government Ethics was issued on 13 October 2011by Legislative Decree No. 873, published on 7 December 2011 in the El Salvador official gazette, No. 220.

The mission of TEG is the promotion of ethics in public service and sanction of acts non compliant with the Law on Government Ethics. Its values are probity, justice and transparency.
