Overview

From Ukrainian Heraldry:
"It was confirmed in Decrmber, 26th, 2002 by the decision of VII city council session of XXIV convocation. The rectangular panel with a parity of width to the length as 2:3, from a staff to the middle of free edge goes a yellow wedge, on which are blue cross and red six-beam star, above it is red triangular field, below it is blue field."

"It was confirmed in Decrmber, 26th, 2002 by the decision of VII city council session of XXIV convocation. Or; azure cross above gules six-beam star. The shield enframed by or cartouche and crowned by argent urban crown with three prongs. The author is A.Grechylo.
The basis of the arms symbols is city stamp of XVIII century. It emphasizes cossack traditions.

The City

From Ukrainian Heraldry:
"It is located on the Ichenka river, from it occurred the name of city. The first data about city refers to XIV century. In XIV-XVI centuries city was under authority of Lithuania and Poland. In 1648-1649 it is center of Ichnya regiment. Since 1649 it squadron city of Pryluki regiment. In XVII century there was built castle. Since 1957 it has the status of city."
