About the flag:
"Shawnee, Kansas, flag is a white flag that has the City Seal in blue in the middle. The seal has the words "City of Shawnee" and the founding date of 1856. The sun illuminates a state symbol of Wheat on the left hand side while an oxen team proceeds down the Santa Fe Trail, which Shawnee is on." - from Waymarking website.
Valentin Poposki, 1 April 2009

According to this VAKC page, Shawnee is moving from its logo flag to a seal flag. The city appears to have used both flags for a long time.
