Description of the flag

A white flag with a black outline map of Massachusetts, surmounted by a red ring, across which is written the town name. Below is written FORMERLY NEW ROWLEY and 1639. Georgetown is in Essex County.
Dov Gutterman, 5 November 2002

The flag has a white map of the state outlined in black in the center of the flag. The map includes two islands: Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. A red circle with the word "GEORGETOWN" bisecting it is centered on top of the map. The words "INCORPORATED 1838" are within the top half of the circle, with the word "MASSACHUSETTS" above it. The words "FORMERLY NEW ROWLEY" are below the circle, with the establishment date of the town, 1639, below it.
