The city announced a flag design contest in November 2018 that asked entries
to follow the standard 5 “Good Flag Bad Flag” guidelines. However, the 14
entries received by the December deadline were considered to be too few, so a
second round was to be extended to May 2019 with guidelines that now allowed use
of the city logo and limited lettering. From the 41 entries finally received,
the 3 finalists chosen by the City Flag Committee all included the elements and
colors of the city logo. The winning flag resembles the state flag of Ohio but
changes the bars from red to light green, the triangle from blue to a darker
green, and the stars and the buckeye to the city logo on a white circle. The
flag can be seen flying during Marysville’s Bicentennial celebration in August
2019.
