Description of the flag

Named for the Colorado River
County Seat: Columbus Area: 964 square miles Pop. (2000): 20,390

On 10 August 1981 the Commissioners' Court of Colorado County accepted and adopted a flag presented to it by Bernice Koliba, wife of former State Representative Homer Koliba. The flag is a vertical tricolor of blue, white and red with a central blue star around which appear the name of the county and the date of its organization, 1837.

The need for a flag was recognized when preparations were being made for the Texas Youth Rodeo finals in Kingsville, and the Colorado County entrants had no flag to carry in the opening parade.
