California, too, has a Clean Marina scheme. As the Mission Statement says: www.cleanmarinascalifornia.org/

"The Clean Marinas California Program is a partnership of private marina owners, government marina operators and yacht clubs in California. The Clean Marinas California Program was developed to provide clean facilities to the boating community and protect the state's waterways from pollution.

It is the objective of our partnership that all marinas in the state obtain Clean Marinas designation, proudly fly the Clean Marinas burgee..."

The relevant manual states (from p. 8/58 of pdf): www.cleanmarinascalifornia.org/cmcmanual.pdf:
"A dolphin flag and pennant award will be given to each marina that becomes designated as a clean marina, after the impartial team's review."

In fact this means that a flag as well as a pennant are awarded, as indicated by the sentence preceding that quote.

A drawing - in natural colors - of two dolphins (plural) sporting in the water serves as the program logo and may be seen on the manual's cover whereas our friends appear with the "CLEAN MARINA" designation, here: www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/ContentDisplay.aspx?id=3966.

Flag and pennant appear on this page: www.pacificpowerboating.com/Articles/Kevo0707Web.pdf.

Both items show the dolphins and the name (letters in dark grey seemingly) on a white background within a thin green border.
