Description of the flag

The original Onigaming Yacht Club was founded in 1894, in Houghton, Michigan. The name supposedly comes from the Chippewa word “onigam” which means "portage". Regattas were held on Portage Lake. In 1924, a fire destroyed the club's house, but it was immediately rebuilt. However, more dark times were ahead, and after the Depression, WWII, and the postwar decline, the club was disbanded: Possessions sold.

Its burgee was depicted as a light blue field, with a wide red bend bearing in that bend a white fouled anchor:

The new incarnation of the club was started in 1976. A new location for the club was found in Dollar Bay. Regatta sailing has recommended on Portage Lake. The new club has a website at https://www.onigaming.org.

No mention is made of the difference in its burgee, so I assume it should be considered a sign of the times.
