SWT is a state recognized tribe.
"The name Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe derives from the area of the Pokanoket territory a part of the Wampanoag Confederecy known as the Seaconke Plain. The Seaconke Plain was a flat area with rolling hills and few trees. The Seaconke Village and many other villages existed on the Plain. A teaming population lived in this area prior to European occupation." http://www.seaconkewampanoagtribe.org/untitled_page.html
