The flag of iLembe has a white field with the district emblem, showing a representation of King Shaka, in the centre.  The name of the municipality is found in an arch in English above, and in Zulu below, the emblem.

Shaka kaSenzangakhona (1787 – 1828), also known as Shaka Zulu and Sigidi kaSenzangakhona, was the founder of the Zulu Kingdom from 1816 to 1828.
