The Kuala Selangor District Council (Majlis Daerah Kuala Selangor - MDKS; 272,980 inhabitants in 2011; 119,452 ha) was established in 1978 through the Selangor State Law Handbill 18/78. It is a conurbation of 5 local councils: - Kuala Selangor Local Council - Tanjong Karang Local Council - Batang Berjuntai (Bestari Jaya) Local Council - Ijok Local Council - Jeram Local Council The Council's administrative area covers small towns such as Pekan Kuala Selangor, Ijok, Jeram, Assam Jawa, Bukit Rotan, Seri Tiram Setia, Tanjong Karang, Sungai Janggut, Sungai Sembilang, Bestari Jaya, Kampung Kuantan, Sungai Buloh, Pasir Penambang. Also involved were new development areas such as Puncak Alam, Saujana Utama dan Desa Coalfields.

Description

The flag of the Kuala Selangor District Council is blue with a thin vertical stripe close to the hoist and a thin horizontal stripe close to the lower edge, the two stripes divided red-yellow, the horizontal superimposed to the vertical, and the Council's badge in the center. The blue color of the flag reflects the people's friendly attitude practiced in the district administration to ensure the prosperity of the locals The red and yellow strip symbolizes the strong cooperation power under the administration of the Selangor State Government. The Council's logo in the center of the flag means that the area is under the administration of the Kuala Selangor District Council. The lighthouse of Melawati Hill was built in 1907 to provide direction to sailors in the Straits of Malacca. It symbolizes the Council's aim to provide people with care regardless of race and religion. The river and rice panicles symbolize Kuala Selangor's prosperity and fertility. The river provides water for people. Rice symbolizes the united spirit of the Council's staff to serve people with a sense of responsibility. In addition, the rice panicles stats that Kuala Selangor is a rice cultivation site. The arms of Selangor recalls that Kuala Selangor is a district under the Selangor State Government Administration. The jawi script is used as a symbol of heritage and this slogan is shown by the Council's efforts to advance economic, social and physical development for its people. Kuala Selangor is well-known as an historical place, especially in relation to the Selangor Malay Sultanate. The cannon symbolizes strength and the walls symbolize the people's stiffness and integrity. (Source)
