ODÜ (website) was established in 2006 as a result of combining different academic units separated from 19 May University and Karadeniz Technical University. ODÜ is composed of 11 Faculties, 1 School, 8 Vocational Schools, and 3 Institutes.

Orduspor (Orduspor Kulübü) was established in 1967 as the merger of Ordugücü, Ordu İdmanyurdu and Ocak Gençlik. The lilac and white colours are a tribute to Fiorentina.
Orduspor played in the top league for the 1975-1981, 1983-1986 and 2011-2013 seasons. The Brazilian Bruno Mezenga (b. 1988, winner of the Brazilian Cup in 2006 and of the national championship in 2009 with Flamingo; winner of the Polish Cup in 2011 with Legia Warsaw; and winner of the Serbian Cup in 2012 with Red Star Belgrade), playing for Orduspor, was the top goalscorer (21) of the Second League for the season 2008-2009.
