The former district municipality of Van was split in 2014 into the two district municipalities of İpekyolu and Tuşba.
The former flag of İpekyolu (photo,
photo) was white with the municipality's emblem. "Belediyesi" means "Municipality". The first flag of İpekyolu (photo) was similar, but with the name of the municipality both in Turkish and Kurdish. "Şaredarîya Rêya Armûşê" means "İpekyolu Municipality" in Kurdish.
