They are in a series, which covers many subjects apart from flags,
that has the overall title, The Observer’s Book of [subject].
Published by Frederick Warne, London. Flags are number 29 in
the series. Hard-back.
They are good little pocket books with adequate text. I would guess
that every flag mentioned in the text is illustrated, mainly in
colour, but some in black and white. The main fault is that the
colour illustrations are not necessarily next to the relevant text.
It is worth trying to get a copy of each edition/revision. They
are not expensive and although there is a lot of repetition, each one
really has been revised and the set gives a useful sequence of flag
changes.
