Title: Flag and Nation: Australians and their national flags since 1901 Medium: book Main author(s):Elizabeth Kwan Secondary author(s): Ralph Kelly (ill.) Language:English Edition (publisher: place): University of New South Wales Press: Sydney (Australia) Edition date:2006 (1st ed.) Catalogue codes:ISBN 0-86840-567-1 = ISBN 978-0-86840-567-4 (see WorldCat entry) Pages: 176 Format: 260×180(×13) mm
The book is published by UNSW Press; it is 176 pages, 260×180
mm and is lavishly illustrated with a lot of archival images. I had
the privilege of peer reviewing the book prior to its publication
and wrote the following comments, which are included on the back
cover:
Flag and Nation is a landmark in Australia’s
vexillological record. Using a fresh approach and an abundance of
new information Elizabeth Kwan tells the story of Australia’s
flag clearly and honestly, without the patriotic platitudes that
are the stuff of myth and error.
(I also provided all the flag illustrations for the book.) There
have only ever been 8 books and booklets on Australian flags —
and this is by far the best to date. Ralph Kelly, 28 May 2006
