- Staré Město, Frýdek-Místek, Moravosilesian region in Czechia. Flag adopted
17 Oct 1997. 1185 inhabitants. The village was first mentioned in the Deed
issued by Vavřinec, Bishop of Wroclav. He was the owner of the Manor of
Těšín. Based on the Deed issued on 25 and 27 May 1223 he credited the
Episcopal
tithe from the village named Na Gemnici (Na Jamnici, being Staré Město
now). Jamnice was a part of Land of Silesia, Kingdom of Bohemia. Before
1393 after construction of the Frýdek chateau a new town - Frýdek - was
founded. The village Jamnice was renamed Staré Město. Frýdek was granted
the mile right. This means that nobody was allowed to work in craft within
a mile distance from Frýdek-Místek. Therefore, the village lost its importance.
