This is a town c. 100 km east of Prague with c. 100.000 inhabitants. Its
German name was Königgrätz and it lies on the Labe (Elbe) river. The name
means in old Czech "Queens Castle". On its coat of arms the city used to bear the
Bohemian lion or, the shield with the letter G (for "Gradec"). In the 18th
century those two shields were united in one and the lion was mirrored.
The flag is white, yellow and red horizontally.
