The silver (white) wavy 'bend sinister' and the green field in the Marzahn-Hellersdorf
arms symbolise the small Wuhle river and the Wuhle valley, used as recreational
area by the merged districts. The wheat garb and the cogwheel appeared
on the arms of the former Marzahn district. The five golden (yellow) wheat
ears stand for the five villages of Biesdorf, Kaulsdorf, Mahlsdorf and
Marzahn and the former district of Hellersdorf and also symbolise the agricultural
tradition of the area. The cogwheel symbolises industrial development in
the early 20th century which brought machinery and electrical industries
to Marzahn. Adopted 7 Oct 2003.
