Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess fir-tree topped; above Or a facetted 8-point star Sable, charged with an ice crystal Argent; beneath plain Vert.
Meaning:
The main charge is the black star of Waldeck, to which the area historically belonged. The ice crystal is symbolising the fact that the municipality is a famous winter sports resort. The green colour with the fir-tree topped partition line is symbolising the extended forests in the Upland region. The arms were designed by Heinz Ritt.
The arms were approved on 30 December 1968 by Minister of Interior of Hesse.
