Meaning:
The bull is taken from the arms of von Plessen kin, owners of the village from 1336 to 1945. The hatch is symbolizing forest clearance by German settlers in the early middle ages. The lance is symbolizing St. Thomas, the local patron saint, who gave the village the name. (Damshagen is derived from Thomashagen.) The beets are smbolizing agriculture and the wavy line is symbolizing a local creek.
