Ettenheim Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a castle Gules with open port and windows Sable, three towers topped by crosslets, flanked by two unembattled walls with a rectangular corner each.
Meaning:
Ettenheim belonged to the Archbishopric of Straßburg from around 110 until 1802 and gained city rights by the archbishop at the end of the 13th century. The first seal is known from the middle of the 14th century, displaying a curious castle, probably the one destroyed in 1637. Sometimes the central tower was flanked by sun and crescent, but their meaning wasn't known. The ensemble appeared in a shield first in 1545. The tinctures were fixed in 1973.

There is no information about the approval, although it was already announced in 1971 by Klemens Stadler.
