Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a bend wavy Azure charged with three 6-point stars Gules.
Meaning:
The arms are canting, showing a stream (Bach = stream) with three stars taken from the arms of the Counts of Erbach. Erbach, which became a city before 1321, was the seat of the Counts of Erbach. The arms were granted by Count Eberhard of Erbach in 1560. In the 17th and 18th century, when Erbach became part of Hessen, the bend was shown as a horizontal bar. This was restored to its original shape and colours at the end of the last century. Until the municipal changes in 1971 the city used the same design, but the bend wavy had been white. In some depictions the stars are displayed as facetted of Gules and Argent.
