Pocking Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Azure enhanced parted by three barrulets wavy Or, flanked by a vaning crescent Or in chief and a sinister facing horse head Argent in base; at sinister Argent enhanced parted by a bend Gules, in base charged with a eradicated oak Vert with acorns Or, superimposed by two keys Azure in saltire.
Pocking was elevated to a city in 1971, when the municipalities of Kühnham and Indling and the market town of Hartkirchen had been incorporated. Crescent, barrulets, horse head and bend are taken from the former Pocking municipal arms, approved 1963. Crescent and barrulets are said to belong to the canting arms of the Benedictine Mondsee Abbey. The horse head is symbolising local horse breeding. The red bend is taken from the arms of the Lords of Rottau, who owned the local Hofmark in the 16th century. The sinsister half is a modification of the former town arms of Hartkirchen, which displayed on a blue shield a white oak with golden acorns and keys. The oak is representing a forest (local language: Hart). The keys are an attribute of St. Peter, the local patron saint. The tinctures blue and white are those of Bayern.
