Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, in base three barrulets Argent, over all a winding serpent Or, crowned Or and tongued Sable.
Meaning:
The arms were developed from the logo of the local spa and is canting, a serpent (German: Schlange) over water ("Bad" meaning "spa"). The spa of Karlstadt was founded in 1694, and renamed in 1700. It gained the rank of a municipality in 1818. The new name had been chosen due to the fact that there had been numerous Aesculapian snakes (German: Äskulapnatter; Latin now: Zamenis longissimus, previously Elaphe longissimi) around the settlement.
