Maxhütte-Haidhof Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Argent an eradicated fir Vert, at sinister Azure hammer and mallet Argent.
The fir is alluding to the former name of the city, which had been Ibenthann until 1938. It is furthermore representing the Sauforst, a forest in which the steel mill of Maxhütte was established. Hammer and mallet are symbolising steel industry and mining of coal. The arms were approved on ocassion of the elevation of Maxhütte to a city in 1953 and in 1956 adopted by the current city without changes.
