    Binz Coat of Arms

Shield Or, two abased bars wavy Sable; issuant from the upper one a boat Gules; issuant from boat a demi-lion rampant double queued Sable, crowned armed and tongued Gules.
    Meaning:
The demi-lion is a differentiation of the Arms of the Princes of Rügen, to which the area historically belonged. Boat and waves are alluding to the fact that Binz had been one of the poshest seaside resorts of Germany. It gained the title of a spa in 1876. These arms can be seen on the tourist flag above.

The arms were approved on 25 January 1928 by Province Governor (Oberpräsident) of Prussian Province of Pommern. The flag was approved on 2 January 1995 by Minister of Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Both were published in the Municipal Roll of Arms Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as no.79
