Rottenbuch Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield Argent an eradicated beech Gules with seven leaves.
Meaning:
The municipality adopted the arms of the Augustine Rottenbuch Convent, known since 1433, without changes. The convent is also the name giver of the municipality. The red beech (German: rote Buche) is punning, as the name of the convent probably is derived from forest clearance (German: Rodung) in a beech forest. The convent ruled the local district (Bavarian: Hofmark) since the 11th century and had also the complete local cognisance. These privileges got lost due to secularisation in 1803. The building of the convent is still a landmark in the municipality.
