TThe municipality of El Peral (611 inhabitants in 2018; 8,595 ha) is located 75 km south of Cuenca and 10 km south of Motilla del Palancar.

Symbols of El Peral

The flag of El Peral is prescribed by an Order issued on 3 February 1994 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 18 February 1994 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 12, p. 854 (text).
The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular, in proportions 2:3, composed of two vertical equal stripes, at hoist, red, and at fly, white, the white stripe charged with a pear tree eradicated vert.

The coat of arms of El Peral is prescribed by an Order issued on 3 February 1994 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 18 February 1994 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 12, p. 854 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per fess, 1a. Argent a pear tree proper eradicated, 1b. Gules a pillory argent, 2. Azure a single-arched bridge argent over waves. The shield surmounted by a Spanish Royal crown.

The Royal Academy of History accepted the proposed coat of arms "without objection".
The Academy rejected the flag, which features the pear tree (peral) that makes the arms canting in different colors. The duplication of emblems cannot be admitted. The Academy recommended either to remove the pear tree or to move it to the white stripe, represented in green, which was done.
