Presentation of Retamoso de la Jara

The municipality of Retamoso de la Jara (105 inhabitants in 2018; 4,824 ha) is located 90 km south-west of Toledo.
The municipality was renamed from Retamoso to Retamoso de la Jara by Decree No. 18, issued on 17 February 2004 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 20 February 2004 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 24, p. 2,764 (text), and on 21 April 2004 in th Spanish official gazette, No. 97, p. 16,245 (text).The name change, unanimuously requested on 28 April 2004 by the Municipal Council, was approved by the Provincial Council of Toledo and the Royal Geographical Society. The villagers aimed at emphasizing the belonging of Retamoso to the district of La Jara, recalling that the municipality was established in 1926 by separation from Torrecilla de la Jara.

The flag is described as follows:

Flag: Rectangular panel, one and a half time longer than wide, vertically divided in the middle, the first part, at hoist, horizontally divided, the upper part, blue, and the lower part, yellow, the second part, white.

The coat of arms of Retamoso de la Jara is prescribed by an Order issued on 16 September 2003 by the Government of Castilla-La Mancha and published on 26 September 2003 in the official gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, No. 139, pp. 14,817-14,819 (text).
The coat of arms is described as follows:

Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Argent two branches of broom [retama] vert in pale, 2a. Or a tower gules masoned and port and windows sable, 2b. Azure two fesses wavy argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed.
